living in victory

I have been reading the book “uninvited” by Lysa Terkeurst recently and it has confirmed so many of the revelations God has shown me this year. This saying is one that stuck out to me because God has really impressed this concept on my heart as well as I walked through and out of a really dark season. You either play the victim or you walk in the victory. When you go through bad seasons you can either choose to label yourself and roll around in the dirt or you can choose to stand on God’s promises for your life and move forward. I think sometimes we can use our hardships as a crutch. Constantly carrying it around using it as an excuse for why you do what you do, or why you are the way you are. By victimizing yourself you’re not only holding yourself back from healing but you’re also prolonging the hard season. Don’t carry that baggage around with you, let it go because then it HAS to let go of you. Here are some ways to help make sure you are choosing victory over victim. 1. Don’t let your past define you. - Each day is a new day - 2. Don’t put labels on yourself. (failure, broken, sad, depressed, anxious) 3. Speak over yourself what God says about you. (loved, favored, virtuous, sound mind) 4. Direct all negative/painful thoughts to positive/uplifting thoughts. (Make sure when you are doing this you are being super specific in your wording for your situation not just broad positive thoughts) 5. Move forward, continue living. Don’t let fear/pain hold you back from doing things that you used to do, or from trying new things.

I hope that ultimately I can encourage you all that what feels like the end of the road can be the beginning of a fresh start, IF you allow it to be. And if you take the proper steps in grieving, healing and moving forward be expectant to see those brighter days! They do come, I promise.
